Katharine has lived in Grantshouse for many years and perhaps not surprisingly, is the Mother of another well known local artist -  John Prentice!

From 1984 to 1986 Katharine attended the Edinburgh College of Art. where her tutor was Elizabeth Blackadder. R.S.A, O.B.E., also a water-colourist and a botanical painter of considerable fame.

The course was run in conjunction with the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh where Katharine's tutors were Dr Brinsley Burbidge and Paul Nesbitt.

Since then, Katharine has completed many works of art herself, including landscapes and other subjects but she continues to be most fascinated and enthralled by the world of flowers and all things botanical. Her paintings are extremely detailed, always accurate and quite exquisite. Many of them have been reproduced and printed as charming greetings cards which are available from the artist or from The Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh.

Katharine has also exhibited with -
The Society of Scottish Women Artists, Edinburgh
The Royal Society of Scottish Painters in Watercolour, Edinburgh
The Royal Horticultural Society, London
The Broughton Gallery, Peebles
Peter Potter, Haddington and at Riverside, Abbey St.Bathans

Katharine exhibited her paintings and her cards were for sale at Paxton House in June 2004 as part of an exhibition with artists from the Royal Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh.

Katharine welcomes commissions and can be contacted by e-Mail if you - Click here!
