The Grantshouse Archery Club's Championship
held at
Renton House
(by kind permission of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Haywood)
on Saturday 1st September 2007

The beautiful gardens of Renton House were the ideal setting for the Archery Club's September Championship in 2007.

A shaded area provided the competitors with a perfect spot from which to take aim!

The slightly raised bank at the side of the lawn gave the visiting spectators a perfect view of the contest too.

< I wonder who scored the 'bulls eye'?

Most of the members took part and several local residents came to watch the contest, including Christopher and Jeannie Haywood and their lovely dog!
Three targets were erected at varying distance for the competitors of all ages. All were very keen to view their scores when the whistle blew.
Everyone found the competition very enjoyable and the weather was almost perfect until towards the end of the contest, when a breeze whipped a few arrows away and above the targets into the woods. Fortunately, they were all recovered bar one, at the end of the day!
Walter, his son, Keith and daughter Lorna, kept the records and added the final scores.

Jeannie Heywood kindly presented all the medals, including

the Presidents Shield, a new trophy presented to the Club by Walter Wyse.

Awarded to the member he considers has most improved during the year, Lynn Wight was surprised and very delighted to be the first to win the shield. >

^ Doug Forrest achieved the highest score and was the Champion of the day!

Many thanks to Jeannie and Christopher Haywood for hosting the event and to Walter, Meg, Keith and Lorna for organizing the Championship for the Club which was so enjoyable and such a success.
