The
Grantshouse Horticultural Society's Show 2010

Home Page > The Grantshouse Horticultural Society > The Show 2010
This year's Show was held as usual in the Grantshouse Village Hall on Sunday 22nd August and opened for the public to view the exhibits at 2.00pm.

With even more entries this year than I can ever remember before, for the first time some of the exhibits were 'staged' on the 'stage' and all the village hall's tables were used!

The show seems to be getting ever more popular and all the exhibits were so beautifully presented they must have set the judges a very difficult task.

Following the prize giving to the winning exhibitors by Walter Wyse, the Chairman of the Grantshouse Community Council,

the raffle tickets were drawn and super prizes given to the lucky holders of winning tickets!

The selection and wide variety of vegetables on show were beautifully presented.

Proving that prize winning and home-grown fresh vegetables and fruits as well as beautiful flowers and houseplants are produced by the green-fingered gardeners in Grantshouse!

The home-baking section was laden with delicious looking pies, cakes, breads and tray-bakes as well as some very tempting  and pretty puddings!

Fortunately they were all protected and covered with clear plastic sheeting which is reflected in the photographs.

They looked so scrumptious but it left the visitors like me, with no chance to 'nick a nibble'!

The children's children's baking and creative cake decorations looked so yummy too! (I wanted to eat the spider!)

Their artwork was outstanding and their Lego creations and models of animals made from vegetables were extremely imaginative and very amusing!

The Industrial Section featured some very fine embroidery and skilled crochet and knitted work.

The knitted teddy bears and cuddly toys will soon be off on their travels to find some children to love them! They have been very kindly donated by those who made them for the children in Romania.

Many thanks to all the exhibitors, the visitors who came to admire the exhibits and to everyone on the committee who worked so hard to make the show a success in 2010!
