Gardening Horticultural Show - 2008

Granthouse - Home Page > Gardening > Gardening Horticultural Show 2007 > Gardening Horticultural Show 2008

The Grantshouse Horticultural Society attracted a number of exhibitors for their Annual Show on Sunday 24th August 2008.

The new schedule encouraged more entries from regular exhibitors, first-timers and children!

The latter had attended a workshop held in the Village Hall the previous week. Organized by the Children's Committee to help them to practice preparing their entries and the proper staging techniques. Maybe next year they'll provide a workshop for the adults too!

The show provided an excellent display of vegetables, fruit and flowers and a variety of crafts, including cookery, needlework and wool crafts, woodwork, photography and hand-writing.

The slide show produces a glimpse of some of the wonderful entries ->

The prizes were kindly presented by Sheila Wallace, from Garden Affairs the local garden and gardening experts! She was very impressed with the number and quality of the entries at our show and delighted to present the prizes.

< The pictures of the prize giving were kindly taken by Liz Orr, a prize winner herself, as once again she won the cup she had donated to the Society some years ago for the highest number of prize-winning entries!
Can anyone beat her?

It was great to see 'first-time entrants' winning prizes too, especially the  children!

A big 'Thank you!' to everyone who helped to make it such a successful Show!
See you all again - next year and good luck!
