The Wednesday Club's Summer Outing 2006
The Wednesday Club visited the wonderful 'Concorde Experience' Exhibition.

Housed in a hanger on the disused World War II airfield at East Fortune in East Lothian.

The airfield buildings remain and have been transformed to house exhibits from the last war and is now the home of the retired supersonic commercial jet airliner - 'The Concorde'.

Some of us couldn't wait for a 'cuppa'...

...while others could wait...

...to see ...!

'Concorde'

The magnificent aircraft stood waiting motionless in her hanger, the steps inviting us to board her and Look around. Everyone was given a handset with umpteen recordings to choose from that explained all about her history and crew, her famous passengers and magical journeys.

The 'Smallest Room'
We were told that the advice was, 'to think carefully of what you wanted to do and then
reverse in'!

< It was so exciting for everyone to imagine we were about to 'take off' for
New York or Bahrain!

Leaving the aircraft we wandered around to take  look at the other exhibits including one of Concorde's powerful Rolls Royce engines.>

Finally we boarded French's Coach again to be driven to the
Whitekirk Golf and Country Club
for a delicious afternoon tea!

Many thanks to our regular driver, Bill Patterson, whose commentary is always amusing even when advising us to 'fasten our seat belts' airline style!

Thanks to Margaret Fleming and Katharine Prentice who arranged this wonderful outing for us all!
