To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Grantshouse and its environs without distinction of sex, sexuality, political, religious or other opinions by associating the local statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities, or assist in the provision of facilities, in the interest of social welfare for recreation and other leisure-time occupation so that their conditions of life may be improved.
In furtherance of which the Association shall seek:
a) To take account of the special needs of senior members of the community and provide opportunities for them to meet, interact, and where possible, go on visits to various places of interest in association with other voluntary groups.
b) To support the needs of the socially deprived young people of the community by providing amenities for education and recreation which will include an environmentally sensitive play park surrounded by self developed gardens. A youth club is also part of the immediate plans for this group.
c) To regenerate available waste land within the parish boundary using volunteer labour in conjunction with advice from the local authorities to improve the living space of the entire community.
d) To make available the proposed amenities to young visitors from inner city and deprived communities who visit the village in large numbers during the summer.
