On four Friday evenings in November and December, fourteen children from Grantshouse, aged from 6 to 11 years, attended 'Kidzart' in the Village Hall.

Their amazing talents and imagination was astounding as they created Plaster-of-Paris bowls, beakers and platters from Mod-Roc and then sculptured various models of their own choice from clay during the first evening.

Over the following weeks these creations were painted and they went on to paint and draw portraits of each other, still life items, land and seascapes as well as amazing abstracts and other subjects of their own free choice.

It was time to have a show! So, just like the adult art classes, Kidzart's children held an exhibition of their work in the village Hall on Saturday 12th December from 2.00 to 4.00pm with a preview on the evening of Friday 11th at 7.00pm.

Before everyone arrived Angie took a break from preparing the exhibition and hanging the pictures on display but one of the artworks was hung upside down! - can you spot which one it was? (The artist soon put us right. Thank you James!)

Mrs. Margaret Morgan from RDA

At 7.00pm on Friday evening visitors started to arrive and were welcomed with a glass of mulled wine or fruit juice accompanied by savoury snacks.

The Expo was formerly opened by Mrs Margaret Morgan from Reston. The Chairman of Berwickshire's Riding for the Disabled, she congratulated all the children for producing such a wonderful show, exhibiting so much talent and artistic imagination.

Every child chose at least one or more of their creations to be offered for sale at the exhibition, the proceeds from the sale of the artworks to be donated to Berwickshire's Riding for the Disabled. The price of each item  for sale was set at a minimum of £1.00 or maximum of £2.00.

We were delighted that all the artwork offered for sale was very quickly sold raising a grand total of £83.00 for the RDA.

Organized by the Grantshouse Community Trust the entry to the exhibition was free but donations to the Trust's Funds were welcomed and a grand selection of raffle prizes were also kindly donated by friends, both raising a grand total of £46.00 towards the funds.

Many thanks to Angie, John, Kateriina and Jane for organizing and helping at Kidzart; to all the children thanks for all the fun and to everyone who attended the Expo many thanks for their generosity!

Ruby made and painted this bright red bowl in Mod-Roc and then modelled the walrus and dolphin and her little house in clay.
They are very attractive unpainted but maybe one day she will decide to paint them.

With Christmas only a few weeks away some fabulous Christmas Cards and seasonal pictures were designed as collage using fabrics, sequins, buttons and assorted beads, paints and glue.

Many extra thanks are due to Kateriina Hyslop who inspired the children and helped us all by providing all the collage materials
